Grants

The Presbytery of the Northern Plains
offers several grant opportunities
to support congregations, leaders, seminarians,
and ministries across the presbytery.

Applicants may use the Universal Grant Application
for any of the funds listed below unless otherwise noted.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:
 

Grant applications will be reviewed by various pods
for meeting eligibility requirements.
All final grant award decisions are made by the Leadership Pod.

The Leadership Pod meets
the 3rd Thursday of every month (except July). 
All grant applications (except the Congregational Vitality Grant)
will be reviewed and awarded monthly throughout the year. 

Congregational Vitality Grant applications
will be reviewed and awarded Quarterly
September, December, March & June - 
on the 3rd Thursday of the month.

NOTE: Applicants submitting requests may indicate
which grant fund(s) they believe best fit their request.
The Leadership Pod reserves the right to recommend funding
from any applicable grant fund, even if that fund was not selected by the applicant.

Grants Reviewed by
Congregational Vitality Pod

Congregational Vitality Grant                                                 

 

Supports congregations in projects, experiments, ministries, and initiatives

that strengthen vitality, deepen discipleship, encourage faithful adaptation,

build leadership capacity, or help congregations engage their communities

in new and life-giving ways.

 

Funds are awarded 50% in the first half of the calendar year, 50% in second half.

Application reviews are done quarterly (September, December, March, June).

*Maximum award determined by annual Presbytery budget, not to exceed $50,000/yr

 

 

Clergy Renewal Grant                                                     
Current Fund Balance: $37,779.36

 

Supports renewal for clergy and Commissioned Lay Pastors,

including retreats for clergy/CLPs and spouses, clergy/CLP convocations,

continuing education, sabbatical support, and other emerging needs

related to clergy/CLP renewal.

Congregational Development Grant                                         
Current Fund Balance: $13,525.96

 
Helps churches strengthen leadership and ministry capacity.

Possible uses include seminary internships, CLP training,

technological advancement, and emerging programs.

 

* Maximum award: $2,000.

New Church Development Grant                                         
Current Fund Balance: $74,314.18


Supports efforts to make new disciples of Jesus Christ,

including new worshiping communities, emerging ministries,

and mission experiments that help the church reach people in new ways.

Small Church Ministries Support
Current Fund Balance: $10,836.03


Supports ministries of small churches (fewer than 100 members)

within the Presbytery of the Northern Plains.

The grant may match up to 50 percent of the total cost of the ministry.

These funds are not intended for building repairs.

Peace and Global Witness Grant                                         
Current Fund Balance: $2,268.34


Supports congregations, ministry teams, and individuals

seeking to address conflict, nurture reconciliation,

and stand with global sisters and brothers in the peace of Christ.

Continuing Preparation for Ministry

Seminary Scholarship                                         
Current Fund Balance: $11,287.53
 

Provides scholarship support for seminarians

from the Presbytery of the Northern Plains.

Funds come from offerings received at ordinations and installations,

as well as income from the Julia Euland Fund.

 

*No application is needed for individuals

under the care of the Presbytery of the Northern Plains
