Over the past decade, Presbytery’s Resource Center usage has been
declining. New materials have been added, however, sadly, have never
been checked out. In fact, most of the resources in our Resource Center
have never been read/seen by anyone in the Presbytery.
At the May 22, 2007 Council meeting
it was decided that the Northern Plains Resource Center would be
relocated to Resource Center for Churches located in Minneapolis, which
is now completed.
By partnering with The Resource
Center for Churches, we will be able to have a larger selection of and
more updated materials for our churches to use. In addition, The
Resource Center for Churches has an online catalog of available
resources (click
here to view online catalog).
The Resource Center for Churches has
the following types of resources:
·
An audio-visual library
containing over 1,400 titles for children, youth, and adults;
·
A print library with
numerous titles for children, youth, and adults on a variety of
subjects;
·
Interactive resources such
as a labyrinth, a parachute, a family puzzle, FaithTalk cards for
children and youth, and several others;
·
A few pieces of computer
software;
·
An anthem library with
numerous titles chosen particularly for small church choirs;
·
Audio-visual equipment such
as an LCD projector and a DVD/VCR player; and
·
Consultation and workshops
on programs, curriculum, and resources
The Presbytery is currently a member
of The Resource Center for Churches, along with the Synod of Lakes and
Prairies, Minnesota Valleys, Northern Waters, and Winnebago
Presbyteries. A few of our churches are already using this center to
receive material. For more information about Resource Center for
